Human Rights First Honors human rights defenders Ludmilla Alexeeva and Dr. Mudawi Ibrahim Adam

Monday, October 24
New York, USA

Human Rights First honors Ludmilla Alexeeva, doyenne of the Russian human rights community and Moscow Helsinki Group Chair, and Mudawi Igrahim Adam, the heroic leader of Sudan Social Development Organization, that monitors and reports on human rights abuses in Darfur.

For nearly 20 years Human Rights First has honored individuals who have made significant contributions to the human rights movement at a dinner and ceremony held each Fall. Each year, Human Rights First presents this prestigious award to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the promotion and protection of human rights. Over 800 people attend the dinner, among them the nation’s pre-eminent lawyers, corporate leaders, and UN dignitaries, along with human rights advocates from around the world.

Human Rights First is a leading human rights advocacy organization based in New York City and Washington, DC. Since 1978, we have worked in the United States and abroad to create a secure and humane world – advancing justice, human dignity, and respect for the rule of law. All of our activities are supported by private contributions. We accept no government funds.
