On September 2 Kh. Dzhabrailov announced that he withdrew his candidacy. According to mass media reports, this act had been preceded by Kh. Dzhabrailov’s talk with the RF President Administration head A. Voloshin or some “lower ranking” official.

On September 3the Press Ministry headed by B. Gantamirov and the Ministry on Nationalities were disbanded and merged into the Ministry on National Policy, Information and Foreign Relations. Taus Dzhabrailov, former Minister of Nationalities and manager of A. Kadyrov’s election campaign, was appointed head of the new ministry. On August 11 Gantamirov stated that his Press Ministry will grant equal terms and conditions to all candidates, and on August 13 he informed journalists that he would support Kh. Dzhabrailov.

On September 3the Minister of Chechnya on National Policy, Information and Foreign Relations Taus Dzhabrailov said that in the Lenin district of the city of Grozny some unidentified persons beat up Boki Amaev, member of the Chechen Republic Election Commission. According to Dzhabrailov, Amaev was attacked by several men. The member of the Chechen Republic Election Commission was taken to hospital with concussion of the brain and bruises. At present the police precinct of the Lenin district investigates the incident.
